Solar Equipment Stocks Rally as Enphase Moves Solid-State Transformer Modules Into Texas Production

Shares of solar technology companies Enphase Energy and SolarEdge Technologies moved sharply higher on Monday after Enphase confirmed that its solid-state transformer modules have entered production at its Texas manufacturing facility.

Enphase Energy (NASDAQ: ENPH) traded at $38.93, up 7.04% from the previous close of $36.37, giving the company a market capitalization of roughly $5.16 billion. SolarEdge Technologies (NASDAQ: SEDG) rose 7.78% to $37.06, compared with a prior close of $34.39, bringing its market cap to about $2.28 billion.

Solid-state transformer modules represent an evolution in power conversion hardware. Unlike conventional transformers that rely on electromagnetic coils, solid-state designs use semiconductor-based components to manage voltage conversion, potentially offering greater efficiency and a smaller physical footprint. For residential solar systems, power conversion is a critical step: photovoltaic panels generate direct current (DC) electricity, which must be converted to alternating current (AC) for household use — the function performed by microinverters and power optimizers.

Enphase, based in the solar technology sector, designs and sells home energy solutions including its semiconductor-based microinverters, which convert energy at the individual panel level. Domestic production of the new transformer modules in Texas could carry weight for the company given ongoing policy attention to US-based clean energy manufacturing, though the company has not disclosed production volume or revenue expectations tied to the ramp.

SolarEdge, which sells power optimizers and DC-to-AC inverters along with home battery storage solutions, does not appear directly involved in the production announcement, but its shares tracked Enphase higher in the session — a pattern often seen when news lifts sentiment across a closely watched industry group.

Both companies have operated in a challenging environment for residential solar, where elevated interest rates have raised financing costs for homeowners and softened demand for new installations. Monday’s moves came alongside elevated trading interest in the two names, which are both classified in the technology sector’s solar industry.

The session’s gains, if sustained, would represent a notable rebound for two stocks that have traded well below prior highs, though single-day moves in the solar equipment group have historically been volatile and can reverse quickly.

What to watch

  • Enphase’s upcoming quarterly earnings report and any commentary on Texas production volumes and margins for the new transformer modules.
  • SolarEdge’s next earnings release for updates on inverter and storage demand trends.
  • Further company disclosures on customer adoption of solid-state transformer technology.
  • Broader residential solar demand indicators, including financing rates and installation volumes.
