Arabian Drilling Secures Five-Year Contract for Eight Land Rigs with SLB
Saudi Arabia-based drilling services provider Arabian Drilling has entered into a five-year agreement covering eight land drilling rigs with SLB (NYSE: SLB), according to a report by Drilling Contractor. The deal adds to a growing roster of long-term contracts in the Middle East upstream market, where national oil companies continue to award multi-year drilling programs to international service partners.
Land rigs of this kind perform onshore well drilling for oil and gas producers, and multiyear frames like this one provide drilling contractors with revenue visibility while giving operators committed capacity. Saudi Arabia remains one of the most active onshore drilling markets globally, sustained by ongoing development of conventional and unconventional resources.
For SLB, the arrangement deepens its footprint in the Gulf region, where the company has increasingly focused on integrated service offerings and technology-driven drilling performance. SLB shares traded at $57.10 in recent dealings, up 0.18% from a previous close of $57.00, valuing the company at roughly $84.74 billion.
Separately listed Drilling Tools International (DTI), which supplies equipment and services to drilling contractors, was little changed at $2.61, essentially flat on the day and carrying a market capitalization near $92.09 million. While not a party to the contract, DTI operates in the same equipment ecosystem that supports land drilling activity in the Middle East and elsewhere.
The agreement underscores the broader pattern of consolidation and long-duration contracting among drilling and oilfield service firms active in the Arabian Gulf, where operators have favored rig packages and multiyear commitments over shorter spot arrangements. Terms such as contract value and rig specifications were not detailed in the published report.
