Eni Offers 30% Power and Gas Discount to Italian Households

Published:

Italian energy major Eni is expanding its support for households facing high energy costs, offering a 30% discount on electricity and natural gas rates sold through its Plenitude retail business.

The discount will be available from October 1 to customers who sign up by October 24 and will be calculated against Plenitude’s main fixed-price offering. Prices under the discounted contract will be fixed for two years.

Eni estimates the measure could save customers around €100 annually on a typical natural gas contract and another €100 on electricity, bringing potential savings to roughly €200 per year for households taking both services.

The company said it will also absorb recent increases in energy procurement costs rather than immediately passing them through to customers under the offer.

The initiative, branded Eni for Italy, broadens a series of measures introduced by the Italian energy group in response to rising household energy expenses.

Earlier this month, Eni announced price caps at its Enilive fuel stations, limiting diesel prices to €2.19 per liter and gasoline to €1.99 per liter. That program followed sharp increases in European refined-product prices amid geopolitical disruptions and reduced regional refining capacity.

The latest move shifts the company’s consumer support effort from transport fuels to residential power and natural gas, giving Eni a more visible role in efforts to contain the impact of higher wholesale energy costs on Italian consumers.

The discounts apply to Plenitude’s Fixa Time 24 Smart offer compared with its Fixa Time 24 Base product. Eni based its savings estimate on annual electricity consumption of 2,000 kilowatt-hours for a primary residence and annual gas consumption of 600 standard cubic meters.

Eni said Plenitude could introduce additional measures depending on how energy markets evolve.

The initiative comes as European utilities and energy retailers continue to navigate volatile procurement costs and pressure from consumers and governments to limit the impact of wholesale market swings on household bills.
