Eni (BIT:ENI) Could Be 2% Undervalued After Perla Stake Sale Reports

Published:

Eni (BIT:ENI) is back in focus after reports that it and Repsol are weighing a partial sale of their interests in Venezuela’s Perla offshore gas field to outside investors.

That potential Perla stake sale comes on top of a strong run for Eni. The share price stands at €25.67, with a year-to-date share price return of 56.9% and a one-year total shareholder return of 83.6%. This points to strong momentum that recent Indonesian gas asset divestments and the Italian battery venture have kept in the spotlight.

Scan how other energy players with strong balance sheets and cash generation are repositioning their portfolios by working through our curated list of list of solid balance sheet and fundamentals (203 results) alongside Eni’s latest moves.

Eni now combines portfolio reshaping in places like Indonesia and Venezuela with a share price that has already moved sharply higher. The real tension is whether this strong setup is still priced on the cheap.

Eni’s most followed narrative puts fair value at €26.33, only slightly above the latest close at €25.67. That small gap keeps the focus on whether long term projects can justify any further rerating.

The build out of the satellite and business combination model, including Searah with PETRONAS that is expected to reach around 800,000 barrels per day by 2030 with self funded growth, can support higher upstream volumes and cash generation while keeping reported gearing and net CapEx constrained.

Result: Fair Value of €26.33 (UNDERVALUED)

Still, parts of the Eni story carry real fragility if Plenitude’s long funding runway affects cash conversion or if Versalis’ turnaround efforts lose momentum.

Find out about the key risks to this Eni narrative.
