Chevron has made four executive shifts, including naming a new chief financial officer, according to an announcement from the energy giant earlier this month. The changes will take effect Jan. 1, 2027.

Eimear Bonner, currently Chevron’s chief financial officer, will become president of oil, products and gas, where she will be responsible for safe, reliable operations across the entire value chain, capital allocation and value chain optimization, per the announcement.

Bonner has served in a number of roles with Chevron during her career, including president of the Chevron Technical Center and chief technology officer, according to her biography on the company’s website.

Jeff Gustavson, who is currently president of new energies, will succeed Bonner as CFO, becoming responsible for audit, controller, investor relations, tax, treasury and business planning activities worldwide.

Gustavson joined the company in 1999 and has held multiple roles across several divisions, including finance, M&A, corporate strategic planning, and upstream, according to his bio on the company’s website.

Mark Nelson, currently vice chairman and executive vice president of oil, products and gas, will be leaving the EVP position, a Chevron spokesperson confirmed.

Nelson will remain vice chairman “with responsibility for strategy and business development,” and will be responsible for “identifying and advancing opportunities that strengthen the company’s portfolio, enhance competitiveness, and support long-term growth,” Chevron said in the announcement.

In his nearly 40-year career with Chevron, Nelson has held a number of other positions, including executive vice president of strategic business solutions and vice president of midstream, strategy and policy, according to his biography on the company’s website.

Finally, Brent Gros, president of offshore, will become president of new energies, leading Chevron’s lower carbon businesses, like hydrogen, carbon capture and biofuels. He will also oversee the company’s AI strategy.

“Mark, Eimear, Jeff and Brent bring a combination of operational expertise, strategic perspective and a proven ability to deliver results across our business,” said Mike Wirth, Chevron’s chairman and CEO. “Their experience, judgment and commitment to excellence will help position Chevron for continued success in an evolving energy landscape.”
