Constellation Energy (CEG) Signs Google Nuclear Deal, Is It Still Undervalued?

Published:

Constellation Energy (CEG) just locked in a 20 year nuclear power purchase agreement with Alphabet’s Google, anchoring a long runway of contracted, carbon free supply for energy hungry data centers.

The Google agreement lands after a mixed stretch for Constellation Energy’s stock, with a 1-day share price gain of 4.6% to US$270.74 offset by a year-to-date share price decline of 26.08% and a 1-year total shareholder return that is down 22.23%. At the same time, the 3-year total shareholder return is up 146.36%, suggesting long-term momentum remains intact while recent moves reflect shifting expectations and risk perception around nuclear assets and data center demand.

Constellation Energy now trades at a steep discount to both analyst targets and implied fair value after this pullback. Is that the market prudently pricing nuclear and data center risk, or leaning too far into caution as contracts continue to stack up?

On the most followed narrative, Constellation Energy screens as undervalued with a fair value of $350 against the last close at $270.74. That gap matters because the thesis leans heavily on long-dated contracts with hyperscalers rather than short-term power price swings.

The story from here is straightforward: monetize the nuclear scarcity advantage through long-duration contracts with investment-grade customers (Microsoft for the Crane/Three Mile Island restart, Meta for Clinton, Walmart, and ~920 MW of additional nuclear PPAs signed in Q2 2026 alone, average duration ~18.5 years). Then restart Crane in 2027, pursue uprates and license extensions (Ginna and Nine Mile Point filings already submitted), and use the flexible gas/geothermal assets for reliability and co-located data-center opportunities.

See why 27 investors see Constellation Energy as 23% undervalued.

Result: Fair Value of $350 (UNDERVALUED)

Still, the Constellation Energy story can be knocked off course if uprate projects run over budget or if regulators cap returns on long-dated nuclear contracts.

Another View: What Constellation Energy’s P/E Is Telling You

The first narrative leans on a fair value of $350, which implies Constellation Energy is undervalued. Yet the current P/E of 27.7x is higher than both the US Electric Utilities industry at 20.3x and a 20x peer average, and only slightly below a 29.7x fair ratio.

That mix of richer pricing versus sector and peers, along with close alignment with the fair ratio, points to a stock where execution risk matters as much as upside. If earnings or nuclear projects stumble, how quickly could that premium unwind?
