If you only skimmed the headlines about GE Vernova’s wind setbacks, tariff overhang, and project delays, a flat or even painful year might have seemed just as likely as a win. Investors who held GE Vernova over the past year are up 61.0%, including dividends. If you were weighing those bullish electrification arguments against fears of protectionism and valuation risk back in October 2025, what exactly in the public record could have justified taking that ride?
Narratives are how investors here put a case on the record, with explicit assumptions about revenue, margins and the multiple. Those assumptions imply an estimated Fair Value.

The Two GE Vernova Stories Investors Had To Weigh
The shares cost US$585 at the start of the period, and anyone looking at GE Vernova then had to choose between two sharply different stories.
The bullish narrative saw Fair Value at US$638, which was 9% above the start price. It rested on assumptions of 9.4% revenue growth and a 12.1% profit margin, supported by higher margin grid and software work as well as recurring service contracts.
The bearish view anchored Fair Value at US$280, which was 52% below the start price. It focused on rising trade protectionism and policy uncertainty that could limit market access and unsettle demand.

What The Evidence Did To The GE Vernova Argument
The clearest development was GE Vernova’s Q2 2026 update. Revenue reached US$11.1b, net income came in at US$668m, and net margin was 6.0%. That result, along with raised full year revenue and cash flow guidance, supported the bullish electrification and backlog story more than the protectionism case.
The lesson for you is simple. When a thesis leans on higher margins and backlog quality, it is important to track reported net margin and disclosed order books, not just top line growth. Those are the figures that test whether a capacity and electrification story is really taking hold at another business.
What GE Vernova’s Run Says About Expectations Now
With GE Vernova trading at US$926, the selected bullish Narrative still places its Fair Value above that level, arguing that recent gains over the past year do not fully capture the business case.
The Narrative highlights GE Vernova as an AI and electrification infrastructure play, and contends that today’s valuation still assumes only a partial shift toward a recurring, higher margin cash generator.
“GE Vernova sits at the center of one of the most important industrial shifts of this decade: the explosive growth in electricity demand driven by AI data centers, electrification, and grid modernization. While many investors focus on semiconductor companies benefiting from AI, GE Vernova is effectively the ‘power infrastructure backbone’ enabling the entire ecosystem.”

-
Company 3 – 20% below our estimate – leans on AI data center and defense demand to fill new high specification circuit capacity.
That is three of the list. See the full list of 33 companies trading below our fair value estimates →
