What Will Decide GE Vernova Stock Over The Next Six Months?

GE Vernova (GEV) stock has lost 10.1% since April 21, 2026, while the S&P 500 gained 9.8%. Investors sticking with the company appear to be betting that customers will keep buying its gas turbines at rising prices and keep paying for them up front. Management expects at least 125 gigawatts of equipment under contract by the end of 2026. This equipment, it says, leaves the company mostly sold out through 2030. Below are the events most likely to move GE Vernova stock over the next six months.

What to watch When Which way it cuts Gas turbine orders and their prices in the fiscal Q3 2026 report October 28, 2026 (fiscal Q3 2026 report, expected on or around) Either way Wind revenue expected to fall at a low double-digit rate fiscal Q3 2026, reported on or around October 28, 2026 Against the stock At least 125 gigawatts of equipment under contract by the end of 2026 In its favor Full-year 2026 free cash flow against the raised guide January 26, 2027 (fiscal Q4 2026 report, expected on or around) Either way Image from Pixabay

Gas Turbine Orders And Prices

GE Vernova reports its fiscal Q3 2026 results on or around October 28, 2026, offering the first look at its gas turbine orders since July. Prices are rising so far. Management said in July that first-half 2026 equipment orders were priced more than 20% above fiscal Q4 2025 orders, as customers turned slot reservations into firm orders.

Power is the company’s largest business, bringing in $19.8 billion of revenue in fiscal 2025, so its order prices matter more than anything else on the calendar. Management expects second-half gas orders to be priced near the top of its range of 10 to 20 points above fiscal Q4 2025 orders on a dollar per kilowatt basis. That would be a smaller rise than the more than 20% management cited for all first-half equipment orders. The price per kilowatt on new Power orders is the measure to watch on October 28.

Cash Customers Pay Up Front

GE Vernova reports its full-year 2026 free cash flow with its fiscal Q4 2026 results on or around January 26, 2027. Cash is coming in faster than planned so far. In July, management raised its 2026 guide to $11.5 billion to $12.5 billion, up from $6.5 billion to $7.5 billion.

Much of that cash comes from customers paying ahead. Management said on the July call that working capital added $6.4 billion of cash, mainly from higher down payments on orders and slot reservations at Power. Full-year free cash flow against that guide is the figure to watch on January 26.

GE Vernova’s Shrinking Wind Business

The company’s totals mask a Wind business moving in the opposite direction. Management expects Wind revenue to fall at a low double-digit rate in fiscal Q3 2026 from a year earlier on lower onshore deliveries. That result also arrives on October 28.

Wind brought in $9.11 billion of revenue in fiscal 2025, and management guides it to an EBITDA loss of about $0.4 billion for 2026. Management said in July that the U.S. market for new onshore equipment remains soft. GE Vernova settled its legal dispute with Vineyard Wind in September over the wind farm off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard. Wind revenue and its loss are the numbers to watch on October 28.

Can You Hold GE Vernova Through These Dates?

Investors holding this stock have had to sit through drops like the one from June 30 to September 14, 2026. During those 52 trading sessions, the shares lost 25.5%. Even inside that decline, they jumped 9.1% in a single day on July 30.

Turbine prices and the cash customers pay ahead both look solid so far. The cash is the less certain of the two, since much of it comes from down payments on orders and slot reservations, and the full-year figure arrives with the January report. A holding fits these dates only if you could watch a fall like this summer’s again without selling.

Does This Mean You Should Act On GEV?

Our purpose is to inform you with unique data so you can make the right investment decisions. That said, betting on a single stock is always risky, no matter which direction you choose.

There is a smarter approach. Since its inception, the Trefis High Quality (HQ) Portfolio has returned 105%, beating the benchmark that combines the three major indices – the S&P 500, S&P Mid-cap, and Russell 2000. And it did so without taking the concentrated risk that comes with do-it-yourself stock picking. If that is how you want to invest, the HQ Portfolio is the place to start.
