Bloom Raises 2026 Outlook on Stronger Demand
Chief financial officer Simon Edwards raised Bloom Energy’s 2026 revenue guidance to $4.4-$4.6 billion, representing approximately 122% year-over-year growth at the midpoint. Non-GAAP operating income guidance is expected in the range of $960 million to $1.03 billion, while adjusted earnings guidance is estimated at $3.10-$3.40 per share.
Edwards maintained the non-GAAP gross margin outlook at approximately 34%, reflecting anticipated revenue mix and business-line margins.
Management attributed the higher revenue outlook to stronger third-quarter execution and improved fourth-quarter delivery visibility. Edwards cautioned that the timing of several year-end deliveries would determine the final result within the guided range.
BE Expands Manufacturing Beyond Its 5-GW Milestone
Chief executive officer K. Sridhar emphasized preparing production capacity beyond the company’s previously discussed 5-gigawatt (GW) milestone. Expanding the Fremont manufacturing footprint supports that longer-term objective.
During JPMorgan’s questioning, Sridhar declined to specify when additional capacity would become operational. He reiterated that manufacturing expansion would follow customer demand rather than occur through large, predetermined increases.
Edwards noted that quarterly capital expenditures reached $153 million, primarily supporting machinery and production expansion. Management expects automation, improving utilization and manufacturing efficiencies to support further cost reductions as production scales.
Bloom Energy Sees Utilities as a New Growth Channel
Sridhar identified utility partnerships as an expanding opportunity alongside Bloom Energy’s established behind-the-meter business. Utilities increasingly recognize distributed fuel-cell generation as a way to address rising electricity demand and improve grid reliability.
Responding to Evercore ISI, Sridhar explained that utilities could deploy Bloom Energy systems as distribution assets rather than waiting for individual customer orders. Such arrangements could help utilities retain customers while reducing dependence on extensive transmission infrastructure.
Commercial developments reinforced this strategy. Sridhar highlighted AEP’s announcement involving 700 megawatts of carbon capture-enabled Bloom Energy systems supplying near-net-zero electricity to Google. He also discussed conditional U.S. Army installation projects and growing international interest.
BE Targets Carbon Capture and Advanced Power Systems
Sridhar described carbon capture and sequestration as a significant longer-term opportunity. During Bernstein’s questioning, he said hyperscale customers increasingly seek systems capable of incorporating carbon capture.
Sridhar estimated that customers could accept a 10-15% cost premium for zero-carbon electricity and indicated that Bloom Energy could deliver carbon capture and sequestration within that range.
Management also highlighted 800-volt direct-current architecture and combined heat and power applications. Sridhar argued that these technologies could reduce power conversion losses and improve energy efficiency, although adoption timelines depend on customer infrastructure decisions.
Bloom Energy Addresses Cash Flow and Margin Sustainability
Non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 23.1%, compared with 8.9% a year earlier. Edwards attributed the improvement to operating leverage, stronger product pricing and manufacturing cost reductions.
During Evercore ISI’s questioning, Edwards addressed negative quarterly free cash flow of $181 million. He explained that inventory, receivables and contract assets absorbed cash as deliveries expanded. Management emphasized full-year cash generation and continued investment in working capital.
BE Maintains a Demand-Led Expansion Strategy
Management’s commentary reflected confidence in sustained electricity demand across data centers, industrial facilities and critical infrastructure. Sridhar emphasized that manufacturing investments would remain tied to identifiable customer requirements.
Edwards reinforced the importance of balancing expansion with profitability and liquidity. The company’s priorities remain delivery execution, production efficiency and converting expanding business activity into cash.
