Investing.com — Energy company TotalEnergies has acquired a 25% working interest in 26 exploration leases operated by Chevron offshore the United States.
As part of the deal, Chevron gets a 75% operated interest in two TotalEnergies exploration leases next to exploration leases the two companies already hold jointly.
The 26 leases are 150 to 250 km from shore. Twenty-four are in the Green Canyon area and two are in the Walker Ridge area. They target well-proven plays.
The deal follows the June 2025 entry of TotalEnergies (TTE) into 40 Chevron-operated exploration blocks.
TotalEnergies also holds interests in the producing Ballymore, Anchor, Jack and Tahiti assets.
Nicola Mavilla, senior vice president for exploration at TotalEnergies, said the deal gives the company access to “a new set of high-impact opportunities.”
TotalEnergies has been active in the United States since 1957. It has invested nearly $12 billion there since 2022 in oil, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electricity.
It exported 19 million tons of LNG in 2025, making it the largest exporter of U.S. LNG, and has 10 gigawatts of installed power capacity in the country.
