Investing.com — On Friday, Exelon Corporation (NASDAQ:EXC) reported third quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations, with adjusted earnings per share of $0.87 compared to the consensus estimate of $0.80.
Shares of the utility company rose 2.05% in pre-market trading following the announcement.
Revenue reached $7.32 billion, surpassing the $6.81 billion estimate and marking a 9.2% increase from $6.71 billion in the same quarter last year.
The company narrowed its full year 2026 adjusted operating earnings guidance to $2.85-$2.91 per share. The midpoint of $2.88 aligns with the company’s updated outlook as it affirms operating EPS compounded annual growth near the top end of 5-7% from 2025 to 2029.
“Exelon’s third-quarter results reflect disciplined investment and consistent performance across our utilities – a strategy that helped prevent outages during a summer of severe weather and kept customer rates below the national average,” said CEO Calvin Butler.
The company’s adjusted operating earnings increased to $0.87 per share from $0.86 per share in the third quarter of 2025. Higher utility earnings were primarily driven by distribution and transmission rate increases at ComEd, BGE, and PHI, along with the absence of customer surcharge credits and favorable weather at PECO.
CFO Rob Kleczynski noted that investments in the grid continue to deliver results, with Exelon’s utilities now ranking 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th in the nation for reliability. The company completed its 2026 planned debt financings, supporting continued investment across its utilities.
