Eaton Stocks Surge 7% After Electrical Backlog Expands 46%

Eaton (NYSE:ETN), the power management equipment supplier, jumped 6.99% to $391.67 at 10:05 a.m. ET on November 3 as investors welcomed record quarterly sales and a higher organic growth outlook. Electrical backlog climbed 46% from a year earlier, putting order conversion at the center of the investment case. Demand is building. The next test is how quickly Eaton can turn those orders into revenue and cash.

Third-quarter sales reached $8.947 billion, with organic growth of 19%. Adjusted earnings rose to $3.68 per share from $3.07 a year earlier, while segment margin reached 25.3%. According to StockTitan’s earnings coverage, the electrical businesses recorded a trailing twelve-month book-to-bill ratio of 1.2, indicating orders exceeded sales over that period. Eaton now expects full-year organic growth of 13%15%, raising the execution bar alongside the growth outlook.

GuruFocus shows a GF Score of 91 out of 100, with the radar chart displaying stronger growth and profitability readings than financial strength. But a price-to-earnings ratio of 39.85 suggests investors are already paying for substantial future earnings. Quarterly free cash flow of $1.034 billion represented approximately 11.6% of revenue. That makes shipment conversion, working capital discipline and sustained margins critical: a larger backlog could support growth, but its value ultimately depends on profitable deliveries and cash collection.
