Investing.com — BP appointed Emma Lewis as head of its downstream business on Wednesday, bringing in the senior chemicals executive from Shell as CEO Meg O’Neill works to strengthen the oil company’s refining and fuels operations.
Lewis most recently served as executive vice president of chemicals at Shell, where she led the company’s global chemicals business.
She will join BP on January 4, 2027. Richard Harding will continue as interim executive vice president of BP’s downstream business until Lewis begins her new role.
Lewis joined Shell in 2012 after spending approximately 13 years at ExxonMobil.
The appointment comes as Shell holds discussions on the sale of its chemical assets.
Shell CEO Wael Sawan previously said the chemical assets are good, but noted the UK oil major is not their natural owner.
