- A new integrated offering combining battery storage, energy trading and financing solutions for industrial sites
- A solution already deployed at Saft’s Bordeaux site, reducing annual electricity costs by approximately 15%
Paris, November 4, 2026 – Saft, a wholly owned subsidiary of TotalEnergies and a global leader in advanced battery technology, launches EnerShift, an integrated solution that enables energy-intensive industries to finance, deploy, and optimize battery energy storage systems while unlocking additional value through energy market participation.
The solution combines battery storage technology, energy management expertise, financing options, and energy market optimization into a single integrated offering. Depending on customer requirements, Saft can support projects from initial feasibility studies and business case assessment through financing solutions, system deployment, and long-term operational optimization.
A key differentiator of the service is its ability to unlock additional value from battery assets through participation in electricity markets. By intelligently charging and discharging batteries according to market conditions, industrial sites can optimize energy purchasing, capitalize on price fluctuations, and capture the value of energy flexibility without adding operational complexity for site teams.
“Many industrial companies understand the operational benefits of energy storage, but financing and profitability often remain barriers to investment. Our objective is to help customers not only deploy battery systems but also maximize their economic return throughout the asset’s lifetime,” said Vincent Le Quintrec, ESS Sales Director at Saft.
The EnerShift model is already being demonstrated through Saft’s own industrial-scale project at its Bordeaux production site. The installation combines a 9 MWh battery energy storage system with advanced energy management and energy trading capabilities. By optimizing energy consumption and battery operation according to market conditions, the Bordeaux site has achieved annual electricity cost savings of approximately 15%. Combined with additional value created through electricity market participation, the project is expected to pay for itself in around five years, while strengthening operational resilience and advancing Saft’s decarbonization ambitions.
For industrial operators, these additional value streams can significantly improve project economics and shorten payback periods. Beyond reducing electricity costs, EnerShift helps turn battery storage into a strategic asset that enhances resilience, supports decarbonization, and creates lasting competitive advantage.
