Sempra to Report Q3 Results: What’s in Store for the Stock?

Published:

Sempra SRE is slated to report third-quarter 2026 results on Nov. 5, 2026, before market open. The company delivered an earnings surprise of 14.85% in the last reported quarter.

Let’s discuss the factors that are likely to be reflected in the upcoming quarterly results.

Factors at Play Ahead of SRE’s Q3 Results

Sempra’s third-quarter earnings are likely to have benefited from continued rate-base growth across its regulated utility operations. The full-quarter contribution from Oncor’s recently approved base rate review, along with higher invested capital, customer growth and benefits from the UTM mechanism, is expected to have supported regulated earnings.

The company’s continued investments in grid modernization, transmission expansion and system reliability projects are also likely to have supported quarterly performance. Oncor’s $47.5 billion five-year capital plan and $10 billion of incremental investment opportunities, including recently endorsed transmission upgrades across North and Central Texas, are expected to have strengthened growth prospects. Sustained electricity demand growth across Texas, supported by expanding commercial and industrial activity, is also likely to contribute positively to results.

However, progress at the ECA LNG Phase 1 project is likely to have remained a near-term headwind for Sempra’s third-quarter performance. Following the export of its first LNG cargo in July, equipment damage associated with the mixed refrigerant compressors led to additional maintenance and remediation work. The project is now expected to reach substantial completion in the fourth quarter of 2026, with sales under long-term agreements commencing shortly thereafter, potentially delaying its expected contribution to earnings.
