Vistra (NYSE:VST) shares climbed 7.69% to $121.57 at 10:25 a.m. ET on Friday, November 6, after the Texas power producer reported third-quarter results, issued 2027 guidance and added $1.5 billion to its buyback. The bounce follows a rough week. Vistra had dropped 13.8% on November 4 as data center power names sold off after the midterms.
Ongoing operations adjusted EBITDA reached $2.38 billion, up from $1.58 billion a year earlier, and net income rose to $1.14 billion, including a $559 million unrealized hedging gain. Vistra narrowed 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to $7.1 billion to $7.5 billion and set 2027 at $7.7 billion to $8.5 billion. The new authorization lifts the remaining buyback capacity to about $2.5 billion, on top of $6.7 billion repurchased since November 2021.
The GuruFocus chart shows a GF Score of 83/100, with Profitability and Momentum at 7/10, while Financial Strength is weak at 3/10 and GF Value sits at 4/10. Shares trade about 28% below a GF Value of $169.72 and near 21 times earnings. The test is whether data center power contracts keep coming if new political limits slow construction.
